78
Ron would have turned 78 on the 3rd of December. To remember this day, I'm releasing a track today that I found on his PC, right on the desktop – as a mixdown ready for further use. The file date was 13 January 2021. Ron had also sent me a few clips by email from time to time. In fact, I hadn't heard this version before I got his PC.
My project to re-release individual albums on the relevant streaming portals is still in progress. So I've prepared a video of Ron's cover version of Call Me The Breeze, written by JJ Cale and the first track on his first album Naturally from 1971. JJ Cale was a major influence on Ron and had a lasting impact on his style. There was no live concert by the Ron Evans Group where at least one of the tracks After Midnight, Cocaine or Sensitive Kind was not played.
With his project Evans & Harley – consisting of Ron, Rodney and the BeatBuddy drum machine – you could also experience Call Me The Breeze live. James Jakob played the piano for this recording from the rehearsal room.
I selected photos from my archive from the period between October 2010 and September 2019. Most of the pictures were taken during live performances at the Village in Habach, the Kofferfabrik in Fürth and the KultBahnhof in Gifhorn. At the end, there are a few shots that we took in the Langenhagen region and in my former studio in Hanover.
The video can be found on my Flickr page or on my Instagram and Vero profiles. The track without photos can also be heard on Soundcloud. I created a new profile there a few months ago.
At the beginning of 2026, this website will be restructured again and then, little by little, selected and revised photos from the gigs I attended with my cameras between 2006 and 2019 will follow. Of course, there will also be accompanying texts, similar to those on my old blog.
Ron, so things are moving forward here. We remember you!
